Plenty of luscious oak scent, and velvety red fruit in support. Spicy and rich and with just the right tannic complement. Doesn’t soar as high as Échezeaux can, but does have lovely fragrance, and the oak is really attractive. (RH)

A discreet but not invisible touch of wood toast surrounds the ripe and fresh dark berry fruit liqueur and broad range of spice scents that give way to supple, round and quite seductively textured medium weight plus flavors where there is so much extract that they seem rather forward and accessible. The finish however tightens up sufficiently to suggest that 8 to 10 years of cellar time will be required. Note however that in contrast to some of the wines in the range, this will probably be approachable relatively young. Tasted: Apr 15, 2013. Drink: 2019+
About the producer
Descended from the Gros family of Vosne-Romanée, Anne-Françoise Gros established her own domaine in 1988. Today her children, Caroline and Mathias Parent, run the estate, which has some impressive holdings, focused in and around Vosne-Romanée.
