Score 92/100 · Drink 2017-2029, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 1995 Echezeaux Grand Cru showed better than the 1995 Clos de Vougeot tasted alongside: better definition, more vigor, quite vivid with vibrant red cherry and strawberry fruit, laced with minerals and a hint of game. The palate is medium-bodied with fine structure, plenty of tart red cherries mixed with orange zest and an almost viscous finish suggesting plenty of ripeness when it was picked 21 years ago. With that splash of soy on the aftertaste, this is a delightful Echezeaux that appears to be aging with style. Tasted November 2016.

Mugneret-Gibourg’s 1995 Echézeaux offered up lovely purity to its fruit with notable power and focus.

Perfumed, lively aromas of redcurrant, minerals and tobacco. Gentle, silky entry, then fresh and bright in the middle palate. Really explosively fruity on the back end, with ripe tannins. Showing extremely well today; seems virtually unaffected by the bottling.
