Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Malartic-Lagraviere has a pretty bouquet with cedar-infused red berry fruit, sandalwood and a touch of mint. There is something almost Pauillac-like about this. The palate is medium-bodied with quite bold tannin on the entry. In my opinion, this is missing the balance of recent and superior vintages; it's rather "top heavy" insofar that there is plenty of weight on the entry, but then it misses some complexity and substance towards the finish. In other words: everything is shoved up front. Not a bad 2007 by any means, but the estate is producing vastly superior wine nowadays. Tasted February 2017.

Dark core and ruby rim. Slightly odd nose at first but opens to leafy cassis and a dark charry note. Smells a lot less mature than most. Dark, dry and savoury, with slightly bony tannins but just on the side of elegance not skinny. Not much length. (JH)

Dark crimson. Very subtle and deep flavoured for a 2007. Meaty and substantial. Many layers and a wine that does not fight the vintage. (JR)

Grass and cream, lovely textural quality – just a little grainy (20% Sémillon responsible perhaps). Smoky and flinty on the finish – excellent stuff. (RH)
