Score 95/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2011
Yellow-gold. Soil-driven aromas of menthol, hazelnut, almond, mint, honey and medicinal herbs; showing everything but primary fruit. Then energetic and exotic in the mouth, boasting explosive density and depth and a tactile impression of dry extract. As solid as a top red wine today. A wine of near-medicinal austerity, finishing with lovely menthol lift. This will need several years to integrate its acidity and underlying stony minerality.
