In some vintages the Corton-Charlemagne is reminiscent of a red wine in terms of its overall structure. That is very much the case with the 1990, a wine that stands out for its broad shoulders. There is plenty of depth in the rich, voluptuous flavors, but ultimately, the 1990 comes across as a bit heavy. Hazelnuts, dried apricots, almonds and autumn leaves all linger on the finish.

Deep yellow color. A fascinating and very complex mix of now completely secondary aromas introduce rich, well delineated, crisp and utterly delicious medium weight flavors that are positively vibrant from the supporting intensity of the acid structure and minerality. There is outstanding length and this is actually slightly better than when I reviewed it seven years ago as at that time I noted that it was still on its way up. In a word, terrific.
