The 2010 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is initially muddled on the nose, but it coheres in the glass to reveal attractive aromas of lemon peel, crushed flint, linseed oil and hints of licorice. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, taut and fresh if not the most powerful Corton-Charlemagne you will find. But it is well made and displays fine salinity on the finish. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2010 white burgundy tasting in London.

Light and almondy on the nose. Not exactly grand cru intensity initially but it’s rather pretty and fine with admirable balance. May well shine. All the ingredients are there, and it builds towards a fine finish. (JR)

Where’s the nuts? Hmm. I find this a little bit ordinary for Corton-Charlemagne. Stylish, punchy and sleek – but not shining. (RH)
