Rapet's claim to fame is his superb Corton-Charlemagne (the estate owns an impressive 2.5 hectares, or 6.17 acres, of this grand cru). Harvested three weeks after the ban de vendange, the 1997 reveals fabulous sur-maturite, red fruit, and poached pear aromas. This opulent, oily-textured, and flavorful wine is densely packed with apricots, peach pits, buttered toast, and spiced apples. It possesses wonderful richness, massive ripeness, and a long, detailed finish. This impeccably crafted Corton-Charlemagne can be drunk now or held through 2008. About the producer
Based in Pernand-Vergelesses, the Rapet family has been involved in wine since at least the 18th century. The property owns 20 hectares of vines around and on the hill of Corton. Vincent and Sylvette are at the helm today, with their son Robin now working alongside them.
