2005 Le Moulin (Pomerol)

Tasting notes
The 2005 Le Moulin is an attractive, mid-weight, yet full mature Pomerol. Sweet dried cherry, herbs, mint, anise and worn-in leather open nicely. I would prefer to finish any remaining bottles sooner rather than later. Le Moulin is not super complex, but it is delicious and has aged well.

This is a somewhat under-the-radar, consistently excellent Pomerol that in some vintages has a stylistic kinship with the famous Le Pin. Earthy, deep ruby/plum/purple with notes of forest floor, black cherry jam, licorice and Christmas spices, the wine is medium to full-bodied, opulent, round, juicy and very successful. Soft and round with excellent concentration and purity, drink it over the next 10-15 years.
Sweet, stewed fruit without much vivacity. Fades on the finish. (JR)
