Tasting notes
Score 87/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2004

Bright red-ruby. Aromas of cassis, bitter chocolate and oak. A bit gritty with extract but fatter and sweeter than the basic cabernet, with penetrating flavors of black fruits and bitter chocolate. Longer on the finish, with the tannins a bit less coarse. Also tasted: 2001 Merlot Spring Mountain District.
