2010 Freisa 'Kye' Langhe Rosso

Vajra's Langhe Freisa Kye has been fabulous for several years now. The 2010 is another stellar vintage. Rich, deep and powerful, yet much lighter on its feet than some of the more explosive vintages, the 2010 stands out for its impeccable balance. Today the 2010 is incredibly primary, with very little in the way of flavor development. Instead, it is the wine's texture and pure minerality that stand out. With time in the glass the wine's volume and breadth become more apparent. Blood orange, savory herbs, menthol, rosemary and melted road tar linger on the finish. This is a cool, reserved vintage for the Kye. I won't be surprised if it opens up considerably with more time in bottle.
