The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix is marvelously rich and seductive. Dark cherries, menthol and spices are some of the notes that emerge from this supple, pliant Vosne. Here, too, there is more than enough freshness to support at least several years in the cellar. This is a great showing at the villages level.

Sweet spices waft from the glass as the 2009 Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix reveals its class and pedigree. Layers of dark red cherries, mint and flowers add complexity in this translucent, weightless wine. The finish is a touch firm yet nicely nuanced. The Champs Perdrix is a super wine at the village level.

Medium red. Very ripe aromas of raspberry and chocolate liqueur. Round and generous on the palate, with a creamy sweetness to the flavors of maraschino cherry, licorice and chocolate. Sound acidity and a touch of minerality give shape to the persistent finish. These generally late-ripening hillside grapes benefited from the warm season. In a rather New World style.
