Tasting notes
With abundant rain and below average temperatures, this is wildly recognized as a very challenging vintage in Tuscany. Tasted today with so many years of bottle age under its belt, the Tua Rita 2002 Redigaffi is a delightful surprise. Like the 2014 vintage—another underdog that was met with low expectations—this wine from 2002 has a lot going for it. The mouthfeel is compact and lean (similar to the 1996), but it is balanced and fresh. Cool vintage tones of cassis, dried raspberry and candied lilac emerge from this medium-bodied Merlot.

Wonderful ripe fruit aromas of crushed blackberries and cherries. Full-bodied, with loads of vanilla and hints of tar, with an underlying raspberry jam character. Impressive New World style. An excellent wine for the vintage. Best after 2006. 650 cases made. James Suckling, Winespectator.com
The 2002 Redigaffi is sweet and balsamic in its expression of jammy plum fruit, elegant and ample on the flow and with an expanding volume, firmness, and grip which should guarantee maximum pleasure for another decade and a half. Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate April 2006
