Score 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2007
Deep ruby-red. Superripe aromas of candied black cherry, boysenberry, plum and chocolate; distinct hints of surmaturite Fat, high-toned and hugely rich for a 2004 (from late-picked fruit?), and already expressive today. Dense dark fruit flavors are carrying a load of sweet, nutty oak. Finishes very broad and full, with a substantial but fine dusting of tannins. Fans of sheer size will no doubt prize this one more than I did.
