46% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot. 35.21 hl/ha. Harvested 27 September to 20 October. Dark, bright, youthful hue. Expressive, leafy blackcurrant nose. Juicy palate but lighter and more fluid, the tannins a little grainy and drying on the finish. Lacks the stuffing for the long haul but a pleasant drink now with food. (JL)

The 2011 Meyney has a lovely menthol-tinged bouquet with ample black fruit, touches of mint and curry leaf emerging with aeration. The palate is structured, a little dry, very Saint-Estèphe in style, gentle grip with a tarry, tobacco-infused finish. Not certain about the longevity of this Meyney, but it is drinking well now. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Mid crimson. Upright but not too stony or uncompromising. A wine with fruit and a beginning, middle and end with both structure and something to put in it. A success! (JR)

The 2011 Meyney has a light, tertiary bouquet of red fruit permeated with gravelly scents; it feels a little simplistic compared to the 2010, but then develops some attractive light menthol aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and bitter cherry, and quite citric toward the finish, which fades a little too early. Not bad, although I would plump for the 2009 or 2010 over this.
