Tasting notes
Tasted unassembled from several barrels. Lovely lifted fruit on the palate and nose. Perhaps less exuberant than some years. A little more depth and intensity from one of the barrels. Has the freshness and balance that a number of wines miss this year. Decanter.com

I've always liked this wine. it's better and much less expensive than the overhyped 2000. Intense aromas of tarragon, berry and blackberry. This is full, racy and structured. It develops wonderfully in the glass, showing a thick and caressing palate. Long and beautiful. Still very young. I would give it more time.--Le Pin non-blind vertical. Best after 2010. Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 10-Year On horizontal. This has a decadent bouquet with immense richness and voluptuousness, an almost honeyed bouquet with marmalade and sloes, Maraschino cherries and apricots. The palate is medium-bodied with a very sweet, luscious entry, rounded and generous with I suspect a lower acidity level than its peers. That honeyed theme continues right to the finish, although it slightly detracts from the essence of Bordeaux and could actually be a very fine Napa wine. Tasted March 2011. Very natural and lively and different – completely unmanipulated. Transparent. The acidity is more obvious in this than in most but it’s at least a rewardingly expressive wine of the vintage. Very clean finish. Very long and complete. Though not set for the very long term. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com
About the producer

Owned by Jacques Thienpont, Le Pin is, without doubt, one of the most famous names in wine. One of the three great names of Pomerol, alongside Pétrus and Ch. Lafleur, it is one of the rarest, most expensive and finest wines in Bordeaux – if not the world.
