Beef, plum, dark chocolate, blackberry and molasses – this is deliciously mature, although it doesn't have the same length and breadth of the greatest vintages. Even so, what a generous and fulfilling glass! (RH)

Very perfumed and beautiful, with a generous, ripe berry, cherry and mineral character and masses of fruit. Full-bodied and fat, it's medium-sweet with a long, tannic finish. A big and voluptuous young vintage Port. Better now than when tasted as a barrel sample. Best after 2010. 4,000 cases made. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 1997
