The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin is a beautiful wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Sweet, floral and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2011 impresses for its balance and pure silkiness. Blue and purplish fruits, a hint of cloves and mint linger on the finish. There is a lot to like here. The Gevrey is a blend of fruit from Seuvrees and La Justice.

Bright red-ruby. Musky aromas of black cherry and game. Juicy and on the lean side, with a slightly green quality in the mouth. I found this less ripe than a sexy Bourgogne rouge (from Morey-Saint-Denis village parcels) that preceded it in my tasting. Slightly tart on the back end, with modest stuffing to support the tannins.
