Tasting notes
(negociant wine): Medium red. Somewhat diffuse red fruit aromas, along with scents of menthol, licorice and minerals. A reticent, slightly medicinal midweight, this premier cru needs a bit more mid-palate sweetness to support its youthfully tough tannins. Still a bit reduced and hard to assess.

Discreet but not invisible wood sets off pleasantly fresh and expressive aromas of various red berries, in particular red currant. There is a beguiling mouth feel to the round yet well-delineated flavors that are shaped by ripe tannins on the firm but balanced and persistent finish. This is less mineral-driven and not quite as refined as the Les Cras but offers more in the way of structure, richness and length. A qualitative choice. Tasted: Jan 14, 2013. Drink: 2019+
