Tasting notes
Medium-to-dark ruby-colored and offering violet, coffee, and perfumed aromas, this wine is a broad, expressive, expansive, and medium-to-full-bodied wine. Its powerful, velvety-textured core offers copious quantities of blackberries, minerals, and sweet black cherries that linger throughout its focused and persistent finish. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2006. I believe 1996 will be remembered at Maison Louis Jadot as particularly successful in Chambolle-Musigny. This offering was excellent to outstanding. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY; (212) 490-9300.

Spicy raspberry aroma. Nicely concentrated red berry and licorice flavor supported by bright acidity. Finishes with suave tannins and lovely, lingering fruit.
About the producer

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
