The 2001 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes has an attractive bouquet with wild strawberry and Morello cherry scents intermingling with iron rust and decayed autumn leaf notes. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet tannins, light and feminine in style, a fine bead of acidity with a delicate but precise finish. I would not leave bottles too much longer, but this still evinces a well-crafted Chambolle-Musigny, one that is both nimble and poised. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2000 and 2001 horizontal tasting.

The 2001 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes from Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg is a great success, revealing a rich ruby-garnet hue and a superb bouquet of dried cherry, raspberry, violet and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated and deep, with a chassis of fine-grained tannins, bright acids and real sap and intensity through the long, scintillating finish. This has developed very gracefully and is drinking beautifully right now.

Pale ruby. Very shaded rim. Light but pleasing nose with some liquorice interest. A real mouthful of fruit and some energy. Quite a grippy structure but with good fruit too that seems as though it will continue to evolve. Transparent. (JR)

Medium red. Musky aromas of raspberry and menthol, with a faint herbaceousness. Supple but minerally and fresh, with firm, nicely integrated acidity. Finishes firm and persistent, with sweet tannins.
