Tobacco-tinged aromatics, and a deep ruby core - this is welcoming, with sweet damson, sandalwood and cigar box, touch of undergrowth, wet grass and dried herbs. On the finish, the oak continues to dominate, and throws things out of balance. Michel Rolland consultant.

Tasted blind. Bright dark crimson. Toasty, evolved nose. Rather drying tannins on the end. Not enough juice and flesh in the middle. Can’t see it going anywhere special. (JR)

Relatively pale. Full and toasty meat extract nose. Developed and chocolatey and almost a pleasure to drink already. Lightly malty. (JR)

Very dark crimson. Brooding rich meaty ripeness and concentration. Sweet start and then quite luscious even if with slightly green tannins on the finish. Needs time. (JR)
