Tasting notes
One of the finest St Joseph's made is Guigal's 2009 St Joseph Lieu Dit St Joseph. Thick, rich and unctuously textured, with blockbuster notes of black raspberries, ground herbs and licorice, it's more hedonistic than the '09 and can be enjoyed anytime over the coming 10-15 years.Count yourself lucky if you grabbed some of these on release.

Glass-staining purple. Spicy, incisive aromas of blackberry, cherry-cola, licorice and black pepper. Intensely flavored and lively, with black and blue fruit flavors brightened by zesty minerals and spices. Firm and focused on the long, intensely fruity finish, with fine-grained tannins adding grip and shape.
All in new oak on finings. Mid honeyed gold. Rich and attractive. Very broad and should be quite voluptuous and rich. To be drunk with food. Fish with a creamy sauce? (JR)
