Licorice and currant, with hints of mint. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. Balanced and pretty. – James Suckling, Wine Spectator2009

A sleeper of the vintage, this muscular, concentrated, full-bodied wine is atypically backward and dense for a 2008. It exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color along with notes of licorice, truffles, graphite and black currants. Intense and powerful, it will benefit from 2-4 years of cellaring and should keep for at least two decades. Wine Advocate.May, 2011
Tasted at the vertical retrospective at the property. The 2008 Chateau Dauzac, a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot, has a backward, slightly surly nose compared to the more outgoing 2007. However, it opens up with aeration and achieves impressive delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannin. I like the symmetry here, the acidity well judged, the tannins showing a little coarseness towards the finish and yet there is commendable length. The 2008 marks a step up in terms of quality from previous vintages and is definitely worth looking out for. Tasted June 2015. May 2016, www.robertparker.com
About the producer

There have been many changes here over the past few decades – from changing rootstock and restructuring the vineyards, to an ever-smaller selection for the Grand Vin, making Dauzac an estate to watch.
