Deep crimson with wide cherry rim. Vanilla and blackcurrant aromas, floral too. Sweet and floral on the palate with gentle though quite dense tannins. Deep pile rather than firm with a juicy freshness through the middle. Certainly has more depth than Chasse-Spleen. Plenty of chew on the finish. (JH)

Good concentration of cassis fruit, broad structure and slightly raw tannins, more earthiness than elegance. Drink 2015-2020. (15 points). Decanter.com
About the producer

Maucaillou
Owned by the négociant Dourthe, this Moulis property has 87 hectares of vines today (with 67 added by Philippe Dourthe since 1967). Managed and made by an expert team, the quality here is hardly surprising.
