Tasting notes
The 1994 Chardonnay Reserve Bin 94A possesses the nose of an old style, robust California Chardonnay with plenty of butterscotch, toasty oak, and spice. Fully mature, fleshy, and medium to full-bodied, with a high acid profile (much of it added, I suspect), this wine should be consumed over the next 1-2 years. Burgundian aromas of smoke, hazelnut, truffle, peach, apple butter and lees. Boasts good intensity, but doesn't quite follow through on the nose; needs more middle-palate brightness and texture. Perhaps a bit overoaked. Finishes a bit too brisk. A 90-point nose and an 82-point palate.
