The 2009 Sérilhan is not quite as outgoing as the 2010 and needed more aeration, eventually revealing black fruit laced with pencil shavings, dried fig and allspice aromas. The palate is typical for the 2009 vintage insofar that there is plenty of quite succulent fruit, blackberry and raspberry, commingling with secondary notes of sage and ferrous notes on the finish. I would drink this over the next 4-5 years.

A rather hard, charmless style of wine made from 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, I was surprised that Hubert de Bouard is behind the work as the consultant, as he normally tends to do a better job.
57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc. Dark, lustrous crimson. Neat, nicely balanced, nothing out of kilter. Very juicy and positive. Lovely purity. Just the ticket (for a St-Estèphe)! New Worlders might find this a little austere. (JR)
Extremely dark purplish crimson. Heart-rending tiny photograph of the family wedding in 1930 on the label. Fresh and very lively and sweet. Lots of fine tannin and ambition. Not the densest wine but lots of confidence and potential. Pretty dry finish but no overripeness. This should reward those who wait. (JR)
