A maturing and beautifully spicy, cool and restrained red and blue berry fruit nose leads to to superbly elegant medium-bodied flavors that are rich and delicious with racy acidity and a powerful, indeed even explosive and mineral-driven finish. The softening structure remains well-integrated as it's completely buffered by all of the sappy extract. While this is approaching its peak, for my taste I would allow it another 2 to 5 years in the cellar first.

Bright ruby-red. Explosive, vibrant aromas of crunchy dark berries, minerals and gunflint, with a peppery lift. Sweet on entry, then classically structured and powerfully minerally in the mid-palate, with terrific intensity and verve. Wonderfully balanced, soil-inflected wine with real grand cru palate presence. Explosive finish features palate-cleansing acidity and outstanding persistence. Hervet and Prost prefer 2003 to 2002 in Suchots, but clearly favor the 2002 Reignots.
The stunning 2002 Vosne-Romanee Aux Reignots offers beguiling aromas of toasty sweet oak, dark berries, vanilla, and mocha. It blossoms on the palate revealing a hugely rich, expansive personality packed with copious quantities of candied cherries and roses. Good medium ruby. Initially reticent, sullen nose opened to show blackberry and pepper. Big, round and sweet, with flavors of chocolate, spicecake, smoke and earth. Today this lacks definition, but winemaker Prost assures me it's better than it's showing now.
