Score 89-91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2005

(just one barrel made in 2003) Dee p ruby-red. Black raspberry, cassis and bitter chocolate aromas lifted by a floral quality. Dense, sweet and impressively concentrated; this really spreads out to saturate the palate. Finishes long and spicy, with strong, chewy tannins that avoid dryness. Lachaux may keep a bit of this for his PMG (pour ma gueule, or "for my mouth") room.
