Score 87/100 · Robert Parker, Aug 1995

The Clos de la Roche reveals plenty of toasty new oak in the nose, as well as scents of smoke and herb-tinged berry fruit. As with the Clos St.-Denis, the attack is impressive, offering good glycerin, medium body, and ripe, sweet Pinot fruit. In the mouth, the fruit takes a back seat to the wine's structure, focus, and hard tannin. Hopefully, 2-3 years of cellaring will round out the wine's hard edges, but I am not sure.
