Tasting notes
Score 93/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound, May 2008

(from a bottle sourced directly from the domaine). A fully mature nose that now reveals hints of sous-bois plus notes of earth and a subtle sauvage character leads to rich, sweet, full and delicious flavors where the classic Latricières minerality is on full parade and continues onto the sappy, intense and mouth coating finish that seems to go on and on. This has clearly peaked though it should remain at this plateau for years to come. Note however that the impeccable provenance undoubtedly plays an important role here and bottles that have been moved more often may be less vibrant.

Ponsot's terrific 1990s are his finest wines since 1980. The 1990 Latricieres-Chambertin is the most developed. The exceptionally fragrant aroma of meat, herbs, and black fruits, includes a touch of macerated prunes to add to its complexity. Full-bodied and expansive, it has low acidity and gobs of richness and tannin. The wine can be drunk now, but promises to keep and improve for 10-15 more years.
