Sweet and plummy and much more evolved than the previous wine. A Latricières without the necessary lift. (JR)

Medium red. Subtly smoky aromas of mocha, licorice and tobacco. Round, dense and suave, with firm minerality framing the ripe fruit flavors. Here the tannins are dusty and fine, arriving late. This seemed tougher in barrel a year ago; today there's nothing hard about this grand cru.

Good deep red. Redcurrant, smoke and earth on the nose, accented by cooler licorice and herbs. Nicely sweet but more herbal in the mouth than the Chapelle, conveying an impression of less stuffing and ripeness. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and medicinal and herbal nuances.

A little bit like a pharmacist and cooper’s cocktail. Cherche le fruit! Awfully hard work at the moment. (JR)
