Medium red color. Complex, pure aromas of cherry, underbrush and smoky oak. Suave, silky and concentrated, with just enough acidity to give it shape and grip. Not at all overly sweet, and light on its feet for 2003. Finishes with plenty of vigor. This relatively cool site was at an advantage in the hot summer of 2003.

Medium red. Aromas of minerals, smoked meat and coffee. Offers a bit more tension in the mouth than the premier cru (this is from a cooler site), but this is still fat, dense and rich, with lovely finesse. Finishes rich and persistent, with very fine tannins. The sweetest of these 2003s: this finished its fermentation with about two grams of sugar remaining.
