Score 91/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2013

The 2010 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is dark, powerful and mysterious. In this vintage, the fruit is quite black, which adds to the wine's brooding, intense personality. Melted road tar, graphite, scorched earth and licorice add complexity to the powerful, authoritative finish. This is a great showing.

Very dark, opaque ruby. Dense and a little chocolatey on the nose but otherwise still backward. Concentrated, sweet cherry fruit and lifted acidity and tannic grip on the finish. Impressive length and just a little warm on the finish. (WS)
