A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, this classic, austerely-styled Medoc exhibits medium to full body, true breed as well as class, and excellent aromas of subtle herbs, cedar, cassis, and new wood. Rich, medium to full-bodied, sweet on the attack, and moderately tannic, it will benefit from 4-5 more years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2018. Wine Advocate.April, 2001
Medium to deep garnet-brick in color, the 1998 Rauzan-Segla (Rausan-Segla) offers up notions of preserved plums, kirsch, cigar box and exotic spices with a hint of dried Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied with an impressive intensity of spicy blackberry preserves flavors, it is tautly structured with chewy tannins and a lively line of freshness, finishing long and mineral-laced. Great now but should hold a further 20 years. May 2018, www.robertparker.com
