Tasting notes
Nebro cuvee is produced only in exceptional vintages. Nebro is the name of the site of the estate’s oldest Tempranillo located 3 meters from Vega Sicilia. The 2005 Nebro is 100% Tempranillo from tiny yields of under 1 ton per acre. Malolactic occurred in barrel and the wine remained in oak for 18 months. The wine is a glass-coating opaque purple with a flamboyant bouquet of mocha, coffee, spice box, floral notes, and wild blackberry. More powerful than the Tinto, it will profit from 6-8 years of additional cellaring. Opulent, mouth-filling, and rich, the wine is a tour de force. It will be at its best from 2015 to 2035. (all tempranillo) Dark ruby. Explosively aromatic, room-filling bouquet of spicy cherry and fresh flowers, with an exotic overlay of smoky herbs. Round, sweet and deep, with powerful cherry and dark berry flavors, a creamy texture and slow-building minerality. Leaves traces of mocha and cured meat behind on the broad, very long finish. Pretty remarkable stuff.
