Tasting notes
Score 91-94/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2005

Bright ruby-red. Superripe nose dominated by cocoa powder and exotic spices. Sweet on entry, then tight, powerful and superconcentrated in the middle. This is less obviously sweet than several of these 2003s, conveying an impression of lower pH. A sample from Troncais showed excellent vinosity, while one from Bertrand oak was less exotic on the nose and boasted even more acidity, although its juicy fruit was more closed in on itself.
