The Fritz Haag 2007 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Auslese Gold Capsule A.P. #9 – from old vines in a site that receives morning sunshine – leads with pineapple and pink grapefruit (as did the 2006); honey- and brown spice-tinged peach welling up on a creamy, glycerin-slicked palate the displays the combination of richness with elegance and lift of the best 2007s. Hints of white raisin and pistachio brittle emerge in the finish, along with an invigorating saline savor that marries beautifully with the honeyed and caramelized side of the wine.
