Quite light. Well balanced in an unambitious way. A little severe and tart on the end but a very pleasant luncheon claret with some density, even if not that Margaux in character. (JR)
Deep red. Currant, raspberry and flinty minerality on the nose; more complex than the Labegorce-Zede. Suave, sweet and fresh, offering a good combination of fullness and vibrancy. Finishes serious and rather backward, with good breadth and a note of licorice. The Zede has more early charm, notes Philippe de Laguarigue, but the Labegorce, owing to its somewhat cooler soil, normally boasts more volume and needs more time in bottle.

About the producer
Historically Château Labégorce was one of the largest estates in the Médoc. It was originally owned by the Grosse family (or Gorce – hence the name) whose ownership dates back to the 14th century.
