Score 82/100 · Drink 2018-2021, Neal Martin, May 2018

The 1988 Labégorce was poured from magnum. It is showing moderate bricking on the rim although the core is healthy garnet. It has a mature, rustic but charming bouquet, quite ferrous in style, mulch and singed leather. To be honest, even from magnum there is not much fruit remaining here, although it manages to retain some essence of balance and offers a soft leathery finish in compensation. Drink in the near future. Tasted at the château.
