Tasting notes
A 2005 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spatlese A.P. #7 smells of apple, quince, and grapefruit, offers a richly fruited yet particularly juicy, clear, and almost weightless palate impression, and finishes with juicy fresh apple, grapefruit, and melon, hints of ennobled botrytis honey, and liquid slate. This fine, pure nectar should be a 20-year keeper at the least. Also recommended: 2005 Riesling ($20.00; 86). Importer: Rudi Wiest, Cellars International, Carlsbad, CA; tel. 800-596-9463

Very lively fresh, and flirtatious, almost floral, on the nose. Particularly delicate. Still quite simple but has great delicate ingredients ready to roll. Featherlight yet extremely racy with some leafiness. (JR)
