Tasting notes
Deep lustrous gold. Still quite tight aromatically with hints of lime marmalade underneath. Very fine acidity all but disguises the residual fruitiness. Still lightly chewy. This has years left in it. I'm going to decant it. Crystalline and pure. Chosen with a German wine-loving dinner guest in mind. (JR)

The demure nose of the 2001 Riesling Spatlese Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr offers delicate floral, mineral, and sweet citrus scents. On the palate, it bursts forth with candied lemons, awesome clarity of flavors, and a noble minerality. Light to medium-bodied and satin-textured, this is a penetrating wine with extraordinary detail and elegance. Additionally, its ethereal core of fruit lingers for over a minute in its focused, highly expressive finish. Projected maturity: 2005-2018.
