The 1991 Climens is a very credible wine for the vintage (like Doisy-Daëne). Touches of white mushroom on the nose alongside quince and background petrol-like aromas, it opens nicely in the glass though it never musters much in the way of vigour. The palate is well balanced with fresh tangerine and Clementine notes, moderate length, clean on the finish. Fine. Tasted April 2009. Tasted at Château Climens.

Quite a surprise! Lots of botrytis and acidity and density with a certain vegy quality. Lots of life and subtlety. Very intense and sweet but with lots of acidity too. (JR)

TA 4.8 g/l (sulphuric), RS 105 g/l .  Early harvest to avoid the rains.   Change in colour at this point in the line up – much deeper gold than the 1994. Richly honeyed, mouthfilling, viscous and broad. Intensely spiced and honeyed, not the same purity as the best vintages but a lovely concentration and generosity of flavour and a zestiness thanks to relatively high acidity – quite an achievement given the difficulties of the harvest..
