Score 88/100 · Drink 2004, Robert Parker, Jun 1999

Produced from 60 year old vines, the 1997 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers bursts from the glass with aromas of almond cookies and flowers. This oily-textured and dense wine has exquisite minerality as well as white pit fruits, pears, and gravel-like flavors in its refined yet quite ripe personality. If it resolves the alcoholic heat I found in its finish, it may ultimately merit a higher score. Anticipated maturity: now-2004.
