The 1995 Clarke has quite a strong eucalyptus scent on the nose that’s intense but just missing a little delineation. Otherwise, this is quite attractive albeit in a slightly antipodean sense. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins and good depth though it is missing a little grip. It’s lightly spiced and just a little short on the finish. This is not bad, but not really exciting. Tasted at the château.

A sweeter, richer, more velvety-textured wine than the 1994, with a good dark color, plenty of spice and ripeness, medium body, and a decent finish; it should drink well for 7-8 years
