Score 89/100 · Drink 2021-2030, Neal Martin, Jun 2021

The 1986 Clarke has a superior bouquet to the 1982 with attractive wild mint-tinged red fruit mixed with undergrowth and light ash-like scents. This has held up well. The palate is medium-bodied with more supple tannins than the 1982. The 1986 is a little ferrous in style and nicely balanced, with fine acidity. It displays more weight with a touch of white pepper on the finish. Tasted at the château.
