Aromatic nose combines peach and nut oils; comes across as less focused today than the Champs-Canet. Sweet, ripe and peachy but also penetrating and powerful, with a strong spice character. A bit youthfully muscular and broad-shouldered. Best today on the very long finish. I'd be surprised if this were not more elegant three or four years down the road.

Pale yellow. Nose currently dominated by spicy, vanillin oak. Then big and rich for the vintage, with a ripe lemon cream flavor nicely firmed by lemony acidity and penetrating minerality. Intriguing notes of stone and spices. A portion of these old, degenerating vines was pulled out after the 2002 harvest, according to Boudot.
