Score 88/100 · Drink 2006-2012, Pierre Rovani, Apr 2003

Medium to dark ruby-colored, the 2000 Corton has a nose that can best be described as reminiscent of a delicious dish of boudin (black pudding or blood sausage). Its earthy meat aromas lead to a firm, almost metallic character filled with meaty layers of sweet dark fruits. It has excellent depth and loads of ripe tannin. While I've not been a huge fan of Bonneau de Martray's reds, Monsieur de la Moriniere, the estate's director and winemaker, has made great strides in recent years. Drink it between 2006 and 2012. My compliments to Jean-Charles le Bault de la Moriniere for the wonderful progress he's made at this estate since taking over. Importer: Diageo Chateau and Estate Wines Company, New York, NY; tel.
