Tasting Notes
Medium red. Game and smoke aromas, with a whiff of currant leaf and a strong impression of soil tones. Big, chewy and lush, but with rather reticent flavors of licorice, minerals, menthol and earth. This is all potential today, finishing very subtle, long and strong, with terrific clarity, freshness and grip.

I loved the 2002 Le Corton (domaine). A structured, powerful wine with loads in reserve, it reveals aromas reminiscent of spice-laced red cherries, stones, and fresh herbs. On the palate, this medium-bodied effort has outstanding depth, concentration, and length. Cherry pits and fleshy black raspberries are intermingled with rocks as well as blackberries in its complex flavor profile. Projected maturity: 2007-2015.
Classic Corton in style and weight with big, muscular and powerful flavors and a strong earth and game-infused nose. This wine is consistent with many '02 wines from this appellation as the tannins are dense yet refined and sophisticated. I particularly like the highly complex, delineated and precise finish and this has the potential to be a great wine that should drink well over 2+ decades.
