Tasting notes
Rich and decadent, the 2005 Hobbs Shiraz is overflowing with cassis, vanilla, hot asphalt and spice aromas and flavors. This comes together with air and gains both depth and complexity. The palate is full bodied with a stunning texture, solid underlying structure and a long, fruit filled finish. Drink this stunning wine over the next 5 to 8 years.

The 2005 Shiraz was sourced from the same vineyard and received the same elevage. It exhibits a similar flamboyant personality but without the extra dimension of complexity from the Viognier component. Hobbs of Barossa Ranges, owned by Greg and Allison Hobbs, has vineyards contiguous with Chris Ringland’s Three Rivers Vineyard. They also employ Ringland as a consultant winemaker. This is known as stacking the deck. All of the Hobbs wines are made with minimal intervention including no fining or filtration. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel.
