Tasting notes
The dark ruby-colored 2002 Shiraz reveals a gorgeous bouquet of creamy oak, melted asphalt, blackberries, and a notion of wood. While some jagged tannin is noticeable, and the finish is shorter than in previous vintages, this is a good wine to drink over the next 5-6 years. Importers: Epic Wines, Santa Cruz, CA; tel. Medium ruby. Really fresh nose features bright cherry, licorice, rose petal and vanilla scents, along with wild notes of iron and raw steak. Firm and primal on the palate, the meaty and mineral notes complementing sweet cassis and sappy blackberry flavors. Finishes on a bright, lifted note of red berries and tobacco.
